Where can I study?
Loughborough is home to one university: University of Loughborough, which provides places of study to over 18,000 students every year. Loughborough University is a research based campus university and enjoys a strong reputation as one of the top universities in the UK. In 2012, The Complete University Guide placed Loughborough 19th in the national league tables.
The main campus at Loughborough University is in the centre of Loughborough town centre. The campus covers an area of 433 acres and includes academic departments, halls of residence, two gyms, a Students Union and gardens. In 2003, an additional campus was developed in Peterborough. Loughborough Student’s Union represents the study body and offers support and guidance for all students. The Union also provides opportunities for students to get involved with clubs and societies. Loughborough University Athletic Union offers 56 different sporting clubs (both elite and recreational). The Societies Federation consists of over 60 societies and provides students with opportunities to get to known other students through a shared common interest.
The university is organised into ten schools: the School of Engineering, School of Business and Economics, School of Civil and Building Engineering, Loughborough Design School, School of Electronic, Electrical and Systems Engineering, Wolfson School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, School of Science, School of Social, Political and Geographical Sciences, School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences, and the School of the Arts, English and Drama.
